Infuriating video from a Southwest Airlines flight shows a crew member removing a man from the airplane because he had his face mask down to eat peanuts.
The worst part is the crew was likely triggered by the man’s hat, which read “Black Voices For Trump,” or his “Trump 2020” mask.
The footage was captured by attorney and activist KrisAnne Hall, who was traveling with the man who got kicked off the flight.
The man who was escorted from the airplane, Philip Ndifon, was traveling from Tampa, Florida to Dallas, Texas to help Hall with an event.
When the crew asked Philip to put his mask on, he complied and wore his Trump 2020 mask until he began to eat food, at which point he took the mask down.
The Southwest Airlines website states, “We do acknowledge there may be times when a Customer needs to briefly remove their face covering, for instance, to eat, drink, or take medicine. However, we expect these instances to be very brief, and Customers should put their face covering back on as soon as possible.”
Speaking to Newsweek, Hall said, “The attendant seemed to single out Philip from the moment we boarded.”
“Philip was a complete gentleman and complied with all their requests and policies,” she added. “I have been flying Southwest regularly for over a decade. I have never experienced such targeting by a Southwest employee.”
Philip was allegedly threatened with felony charges and arrest if he refused to comply.
When Philip left the plane, Hall’s husband exited with him and Southwest re-routed the pair to Oklahoma City.
That’s over 200 miles away from where they needed to be.
Donald Trump Jr. saw the video and tweeted, “WTF??? This is disgusting. I’ve been on a thousand flights in the last few months and everyone lowers their masks to eat and drink. I did it on a southwest flight earlier this week.”
