Greece’s most notorious and overcrowded refugee camp has been ravaged by a series of fires likely set by the migrants themselves, according to reports.

The Moria camp on the island of Levos, which held around 12,000 migrants at last count, has been severely damaged by multiple blazes – some during the early morning on Wednesday, and more around nightfall many hours later.

Riots reportedly broke out at the facility after 35 migrants tested positive for coronavirus and were told they would have to move into isolation with their families.

“The first fire was started by refugees and immigrants who, after being identified as positive cases, refused to be quarantined, according to the Minister of Immigration and Asylum Notis Mitarakis,” Skai reports.

Locals say migrants may have also used accelerants to spread the fires, according to accounts shared on social media.

Fire crews were attacked while fighting the inferno as migrants celebrated the destruction of the camp, according to some reports.

This is how it unfold in #Moria:

▫️20:30 – first fire & firefighters immediately extinguishes it

▫️22:30 – 70km from Moria another fire is set & firefighters are relocated

it is not a coincidence that these fires stated simultaneously in the same region and the immigrants also stoned the Fire Brigade trucks who were trying to reach the fire to put it out

Hours after the initial fires, more broke out in new locations.

“A new large fire broke out in the same place, according to newer information,” Skai reports. “Right behind the KYT, what was left is burning. It is in the places where there was no fire last night. The fire brigade is operating at the spot with the assistance of ELAS. The cause of the second fire has not been determined yet.”

European Union officials have pledged to move roughly 400 ‘unaccompanied minors’ to the mainland, and the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia has offered to accept at least 1,000 migrants displaced by the fire.

A new report shows that a recent outbreak of polio in Sudan was the result of a vaccine designed to treat polio. This is a damning disclosure and shows the UN and it’s health wing, the WHO, can’t be trusted when it comes to vaccines and their safety.
