nearly-300-illegals-arrested-in-18-hours

Hundreds of illegal aliens were apprehended during an 18-hour span by border agents working alongside law enforcement officers along the U.S. southern frontier.

At least 294 foreign nationals were rounded up during a series of stash house busts and thwarted smuggling attempts between Oct. 13 and 14.

“The first incident occurred during the late afternoon of October 13, when agents from the Laredo South Station, working with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Webb County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), conducted a consensual search at a residence in which they discovered 123 individuals stashed inside,” Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said in a statement.

“They were determined to be in the United States illegally from the countries of Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. The U.S. Border Patrol took them into custody pending investigation.”

Thirteen more illegal aliens from Mexico were apprehended at another stash house hours later in the same county.

Border Patrol thwarted a human smuggling attempt later that evening, finding 84 aliens inside a commercial trailer at a highway checkpoint.

In the early hours of Oct. 14, another 74 illegals were discovered inside a refrigerated tractor-trailer at a different checkpoint.

While over 200 of the aliens were from Mexico, the other 90 were determined to be citizens of other countries, primarily Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador.
